Today, the year 1 children of Siggiewi primary had a great hands on experience at the Alka Ceramics in Ta’ Qali.

Ms Haber welcomed the children and gave them an explanation about clay and the ceramic forming techniques. She also showed them the different things that they could do with clay such as animals, baskets and tiles.

Later it was time for our children to get their hands dirty! With the help of experts from Alka Ceramics, we made sure the children got the most out of their clay experience. The children made several items and as time passed by one could see they gained more skill and control in shaping clay into their desired form.

Finally the children were guided into creating their own tile by forming a wild animal and sticking it onto their tile. The names of the children, the year and the date were scraped on each tile too.

The tiles and other items will be baked and later on decorated with paint to be displayed  at school.
